For Suppliers & Contractors

Investa is committed to the long term integration of sustainability practices throughout the organisation for the purpose of enhancing shareholder value. We have a sustainability platform that flows from a Group-wide sustainability policy to our activities. We are committed to reducing the intensity of the resource use and the creation of the greenhouse gas emissions due to our activities.

In implementing our sustainability platform we recognise the importance of engaging with our suppliers and other stakeholders to jointly improve environmental, social and financial outcomes. One example of this was noted in our latest Sustainability Report: Rodney Wynyard from Taubmans said, “We were prompted by Investa to consider moving towards lower VOC paints. Now, a year later, we are about to change our standard range to contain fewer VOC emissions. Investa and Clarendon have significant roles in encouraging suppliers to consider sustainability and we have responded to their challenge.”

One method we have of engaging with our suppliers and contractors in our Commercial Office business is through the Preferred Supplier Application process.

Summary of Supplier Applications

Over the last reporting period (2007-2008) 468 preferred supplier applications were submitted. We observed a significant increase in the quality of safety and environmental documentation supporting applications for preferred supplier status during the year. There was a drop in the number of applications processed reflecting a growing preference to continue relationships with suppliers already on the list. We consider this to be a positive sign.
